President of the community H.E. Jakob Finci
Hazzan Igor Kozemjakin who serves at the historic Sarajevo synagogue
Ambassador Finci is the former BiH Ambassador to Switzerland. He is a Founding Member and President of the Interreligious Council of BiH. He is also a founder of the Jewish cultural-educational and humanitarian society “La Benevolencija”.
Hazzan Kozemjakin is a Council Member at the Council of National Minorities of Sarajevo. Board Member at “La Benevolencija” and was Sr. Advisor at the Interreligious Council of BiH.
Topics to include: community history, including the “Purim di Saray” (commemorating the events of 1819 when Sarajevo Muslims revolted against their governor to secure the release of Jewish prisoners he had held for a high ransom), interreligious relations, Ladino, Jewish life today, balancing modernity and maintaining the tradition, election reform and minorities in BiH, and a bit of hazzanut.
