Join us for a National Soul Food and Pride luncheon cooking demo and discussion (including Black Eyed Peas Hummus and Okra/Bamia) with African-American Jewish writer and culinary historian Chef Michael Twitty at the delicious intersection of African American, Israeli and Sephardic Jewish cuisines.

CHEF MICHAEL TWITTY is an African-American Jewish writer, culinary historian, and educator. He is the author of The Cooking Gene, which won the 2018 James Beard Foundation Book Award for Book of the Year as well as the category for writing. He has appeared on Padma Lakshmi’s show, Taste the Nation. and also High on the Hog.

MODERATOR VERED GUTTMAN is a food writer for Haaretz who is of Sephardic/Iraqi-Jewish heritage and focuses on Israeli and Jewish food. Her articles in Haaretz include “Go Ahead, give okra a chance.”
